2011 AptHost Year in Review

Hello everyone!

It’s that time of year again where we wanted to post a review of the year and let everyone know what to expect next year from AptHost.

2011 saw many changes and additions! Most importantly, we undertook the not-so-small task of performing a migration of every shared, semi-dedicated, and reseller server! We did this for many reasons among them to standardize the servers we use and to bring all servers current with software, versions, and whatnot.

We also launched our Affiliate Program in very late 2010. If you haven’t joined, what are you waiting for? Join today and start earning some easy money!

We also have exciting plans for 2012! We will be revamping our VPS products and offering additional options such as fully managed plans. Additionally, our engineering team is currently writing a significant update to our billing system. The new version will provide for tighter integration with hosting accounts, add additional features, and more!

We love hearing feedback, so if you have any questions, post a comment and we’ll be happy to answer them!

AptHost Update For May

Hi everyone!

It has been a great few months for AptHost and we hope you are all seeing the results! We will be posting an update each month so you can see what we are working on and what we have completed.

So what have we been working on the last few months?

We have hired a lot more people and you should notice that live chat, phone support, and ticket/email support is a lot faster. We are now up to a total of 46 people!

We have implemented a new backup system and now all our shared and reseller customers are on it and protected with several snapshots daily, weekly, and monthly!

We have been working very hard to improve server performance. The previous owners put too many customers per server so we have been moving a lot of people to brand new servers to make sure performance is fantastic for everyone! If you are having any problems please email support to get some help! We are available 24/7.

Over the next month you are going to see some exciting changes to our VPS hosting to offer some great new features. We are currently testing some new VPS software that will allow us to offer more templates, improved streaming performance, and a lot more.

If you have any comments, suggestions, requests, questions, or any thoughts you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you! Please feel free to email us at Ben@AptHost.com or Joel@AptHost.com any time. Also, we’ll monitor the comments section of this blog, so feel free to express any questions or thoughts here.

Thanks,
Ben and Joel

AptHost Affiliate Program News

Over the last few weeks we have been working to get the affiliate program fixed and current affiliates caught up on payments. The previous owners of AptHost had not been paying affiliates and we are going to fix that mistake. If by this Friday you have not received your payment or any info please contact affiliates@apthost.com to open a ticket.

The other big news is that we have decided to close the affiliate program. The reason being the current billing solution we are using (WHMCS) has the worst affiliate system we have ever seen and it is too much trouble to be worth it. We will be reopening the affiliate program late this year when we move to our custom billing solution. Until that time if you have a website please email Ben@AptHost.com as we might be interested in advertising on your website.

Welcome to the new AptHost Blog and the New Apthost!

Hello everyone,

As you can see we’ve got a new blog here at apt host and our first announcement is a big one: We’d like to announce that AptHost is now under new ownership. Our names are Ben Welch-bolen and Joel Brown. We’ve both been in the hosting industry for the last decade, and we’re going to be using that experience to bring a lot of positive changes to AptHost. You can count on us and on our staff to provide great customer service.

We’ll be using the blog on a quarterly basis to post updates on what we’re working on here at AptHost and what we have accomplished. In that vein, here’s a list of what we’ve already started work on:

  • We’ve switched to a new support desk and, as you may have noticed, Technical Support, Live Chat, and other departments are responding to your questions more quickly than ever. We’ve also brought new staff into AptHost and restructured support operations to improve quality and reduce response times. You’ll see continued improvements in this area during the coming year.
  • Over the next two months our staff will be implementing a new backup system for all shared, reseller, and semi dedicated boxes that will store several more snapshots than the previous system.
  • During the next six months, you will see some new products coming out, improvements to current products, and a lot of optimization work. We are going to make AptHost the best streaming hosting service available, and with the new products we’ll be able to provide a streamlined path for clients to scale from shared hosting to VPS and all the way to complex hosting solutions for very large sites.
  • We are working on the affiliate situation and should have that resolved soon. We are going to sort the affiliate payment problem out and make sure all affiliates are paid and fix the mistakes made by the previous owners.

We’re very excited for what’s in store here at AptHost, and hope you are too.
Ben And Joel
